Common Name: Sweet-autumn clematis
Botanical Name: Clematis terniflora
Clematis comes from the greek word clema (a shoot), and refers to a climbing plant with slender stems. The species name terniflora, in Latin means “flowers". Small, creamy white flowers in abundance in August and September, but, really, the leaves are the true attraction. Moist, rather infertile ground. Full sun for best colour though quite happy in shade.
